The Western Academy of Legal Studies in Business ("WALSB") Annual Conference will be held in Monterey, CA on March 28-29, 2014.

WALSB president-elect Lydie Pierre-Louis (San Fransisco) provided the information below about the conference:

Invitation:

You may choose to present a scholarly paper (for academics), organize or serve on a panel, or give a presentation on any topic of interest to academics or practitioners in the field of business law (for practitioners).  Registration fee includes a cocktail reception on Friday for registrants and guests, breakfast and light lunch on Saturday for registrants, and a digital copy of the proceedings.  CA CLE is available.

Participation:

Please complete and submit the registration form to our conference program chair, Lydie Pierre-Louis, at lnpierrelouis@usfca.edu.  If you wish to be placed on the program for presentation at the conference, please submit your registration by March 14, 2014. We will receive a confirmation.

Please make a reservation at our hotel, the Bay Park Hotel www.bayparkhotel.com. The hotel rate is $84 + tax per day. We recommend calling the hotel DIRECTLY at 800.338.3564 and ask for the special WALSB rate.  The Bay Park Hotel is located at 425 Munras Ave, Monterey, CA, 93940.

Please pay WALSB Conference Registration fee of USD $50 by mailing a check to our President, Laurie Licther-Heath, or cash/check at the conference door.  Send payment (payable to WALSB) to: Eberhardt School of Business, University of the Pacific, 3601 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95211.

Scholarly Presenters: 

Refereed track – An abstract of no more than 100 words and a copy of your paper in Word must be e-mailed to Lydie Pierre-Louis (lnpierrelouis@usfca.edu) no later than February 28, 2014. If your paper is accepted, at least one author must attend the conference and present the paper.) Papers accepted for the refereed track will be published in the Proceedings. You should send a clean copy of the paper including the author’s name and affiliation.  All track changes must be removed before submitting the paper.  Please bring 15 copies of the paper to the conference.

Regular track – An abstract of no more than 100 words in Word must be e-mailed to Lydie Pierre-Louis (lnpierrelouis@usfca.edu) and a copy of your paper in Word by no later than March 14, 2014. You should send a clean copy of the paper including the author’s name and affiliation.  All track changes must be removed before submitting the paper.  Please bring 15 copies of the paper to the conference.

Each year, a paper presented at the annual conference is selected to receive a Best Paper Award and Best Presentation Award.   Both awards include a certificate and a cash award.
